A nice excursion of Sophie Jovillard from Ankara (the travel agency manager Ahmed Diler, the cafe, the men playing backgammon, the drinking of tea, the walk to the citadel-the byzantine origin of the town-and the talk about the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk) to Güzelyurt ( the monastery founded in 1854 now transformed into a hotel, the Romani musicians playing music in the huge refectory, the walk through the main square, the backgammon play against the policeman of the town, the visit of a house inhabited by Greeks with a huge vault, the visit of the underground city-9 floors under the ground- and later of a church of the 6th century with pink stones) passing by Hacibektas ( the statue of Musfata Kemal Ataturk-his fight for the religious tolerance- , the museum dedicated to Haci Bektas Veli-600.000 to 700.000 visitors each year, the Bektashi mystic dance and the visit of the grave of this saint) and by Avanos (the house restored by Ahmet, the supper-Sophie has to break the jug containing the meat, the friendliness with Ahmet's family, the hot air balloon fight with the balloonist Kaili Kidner over the mountains of Cappadocia -th frescoes in the cave church, the fairy chimneys-, then the horseback riding in the valley of the fairy chimneys, the tasting of a pomegranate juice, the visit of the troglodyte church of three crosses, the paintings of the 10th century and the pigeon lofts, the walk through the market of Avanos-the tasting of the "simit"-bread with sesame seeds, the encounters with two ladies baking bread, baklava and galettes and also making a raisin jam, the gift of bread to Sophie and Ahmet).
