Gevatter Tod (1980)

Synopsis

A poor peasant is looking for a godfather for his 13th child Jörg. After he has rejected the offers of God and the Devil, he chooses Death as a godfather for his son who makes his godson study medicine at the Universities of Perugia and Casablanca. Jörg, however, strives after fame and wealth as a doctor, and presumes to finesse Death. In the end, he is even willing to sacrifice the life of another man for his personal happiness.
